The answer to #4 is not just the best answer, it's the only acceptable answer. These days, every client should get a Content Management System, along with training in how to use it. A CMS, moreover, needs to be easy to use (not all of them are), which you can gauge by asking how long will the training take. If the answer is less than two hours, you're in the right place.

Thanks David! Great builds and I think your point about needing to know what your objective is for the tactic (website) is critical!

Great questions! Thanks to Andy for developing and to you for re-posting.

I'm in the process of redesigning my company's website and think these questions are spot-on. Based on my experience, I might add (potentially under usability) a request to see examples of look-and-feel and their strategy for pathways into and around the site for different users. I tend to look at a website the way I look at any other good piece of collateral: the message should be clear and the doorway into the message intuitive.

I might also ask what Search Marketing strategies they would enable and their SEO strategy. Probably as a follow up in Q5 regarding findability.

Of course, the hardest question to answer is that of the buyer: "What do you want your website to do for you?"
